Ethiopian Animation: Abeba and Abebe

I cannot tell you how much we are honored to be part the AiM festival. As this is the first time we have an international platform for the project, all the members of the project are excited. We are also very grateful that after so many challenges and difficulties, the international audience is able to witness the birth of Ethiopian animation through AiM.

When I suggested the idea of animation two years ago, almost everybody laughed at me. Abeba and Abebe were born from scratch. The kids (the voice actors and writers), the writers, the artists and the animators along with our friends / partners from Toon Boom Animation (Canada) and Big Fat Studios will be very proud today.

I thank AiM for being the voice African film makers that have millions of untold stories to tell the rest of the world. Storytelling in Africa is the basis for any form of development. I am sure AiM will grow bigger with Africa.

Words from Solomon Kebere, creator and producer of 'Abeba and Abebe' which is part of our African Films for Children programme
